Close-up of a warm red autumn leaf with white veins of a Japanese maple. A frame-filling macro shot, almost abstract. Beautiful bright colours for a bit of warmth in the interior. You could spend hours looking at the fine lines of the veins. Where do they go? I got the idea for this photo from the leaves swirling through my garden. On closer study, I saw how beautifully the veins contrasted with the red colour of the leaf. By fixing the leaf on a glass plate and shining it from behind with a daylight lamp, the colours and veins came out even better. I then brought the camera with macro lens on a tripod up close to the leaf and captured the beautiful colours.
