About ‘Visnet op het drooggevallen wad bij Lauwersoog’ by Tim Groeneveld

Visnet op het wad bij de haven van Lauwersoog, bij zonsondergang. Het is eb, het water van de Waddenzee heeft zich teruggetrokken en het net op het droge achtergelaten. Het net vangt de laatste zonnestralen op.

Lauwersoog is een belangrijke vissershaven (LO) en heeft een eigen visafslag. De haven biedt plaats aan ca. 150 visserijschepen. Daarnaast heeft ook de bruine vloot een aantal ligplaatsen. Door de gunstige ligging ten opzichte van de noordelijke visgronden, de Deense kust en de Duitse bocht is Lauwersoog al decennia lang in trek bij de vissers die hier hun netten uitzetten. De afstand tussen de visgronden en de haven is voor de visserman immers van groot belang. Bij slecht weer is hij niet alleen eerder binnen, maar door het kortere aantal uren ?stomen? bespaart hij bovendien op zijn brandstofrekening.

Vandaar dat vissers van verschillende nationaliteiten Lauwersoog wekelijks aandoen. Daarnaast heeft een gedeelte van de vissersvloot van Urk Lauwersoog als thuishaven.

In de Haven Lauwersoog zijn onder meer de visafslag met een eigen ijsvoorziening, visgroothandels, een bedrijf met allerhande scheepsbenodigdheden, een douanekantoor, een drijvend dok voor onderhoudswerkzaamheden aan de vissersschepen, een supermarkt, een aantal restaurants en viswinkels en een aantal sportvisbedrijven gevestigd.

Daarnaast vertrekt vanaf Lauwersoog een paar keer per dag de veerboot naar Schiermonnikoog. Lauwersoog heeft hierdoor op veel mensen een grote aantrekkingskracht.
