Travelling through the Algarve, Portugal, we came across a small peaceful oasis in Monchique, an old spa town. There I saw this little scene. The vintage chair reminded me of the brown school chairs of old, but Portuguese style: beautifully covered with a tile pattern. Now discarded, and I wondered if they would refurbish this chair, just as they have largely refurbished the spa beautifully.
The red wall gave the chair a stage, a canvas. So she stood shining again, after all. There is also beauty in the old, in the transitory; not everything has to be new and shiny to be beautiful. The lived-in character of the chair made her extra interesting to me. An unpolished beauty. Do you agree? Maybe the chair can have a place with you then?
Or like me, do you love those amazing colours found in Portugal? Instant holiday mood!
