The Ngorongoro Crater is a walled nature reserve created from an ancient volcanic crater. The crater is actually not a crater but a caldera ( a collapsed volcanic cone). A relatively small area ( about 260 square kilometres) is home to very many large mammals. but birds can also get around quite well.
The photo shows a large herd of wildebeest's in the foreground.
