Watercolor painting of the city square Piazza delle Erbe in Verona. In the spring of 2010, I took a photo image on location and decided to recreate the composition in watercolor in my studio later that year.
This is the Arco della Costa and the building on the right is the Palazzo della Raggione, built in the 12th century as a city hall of Verona.
Palazzo della Raggione is known for its fine masonry with red and yellow bricks masoned in long courses as well as the Torre dei Lamberti, built in 1172 by the Lamberti family.
On the left in the picture you can see the beautiful mansion with flowers and plants on the balcony above the Osmisi Farmacia Centrale on Via della Costa street.
The city of Verona is of course also extremely famous for the world-famous fictional love story of Romeo and Juliet ( Romeo e Giulietta ) by William Shakespeare, who strangely never visited the city of Verona.
