Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.

About ‘Venice - gondolier in front of St. Mark's Square’ by Thomas Bugdoll

Venice without a gondola is like soup without salt. A gondola ride through the canals of Venice is the highlight of a romantic vacation in Venice. The gondoliers are proud of their profession and of their gondola. Because each one is unique and no two are alike.

The image of the canals is characterized by the gondoliers, who juggle their gondola with great skill through the narrow canals and the flat bridges. Of course, a singing gondolier on the Grand Canal is particularly romantic.

The gondolier stands at the stern beak of the gondola and moves it with a single, starboard oar, the remo. This is mounted in a wooden fork, the forcula. In addition, he uses house walls and other oncoming boats to maneuver, pushing off from them with his leg. Thus, the gondolier is not only able to move the gondola both forward and backward - in order to pass some very low bridges over the Venetian canals, the gondolier additionally uses the means of weight shifting to put the gondola on list.
