The Vox Apolonia is the sister ship of the LNG trailing suction hopper dredgers Vox Ariane and Vox Alexia. The Vox Ariane was christened in June 2022 and has already been successfully deployed on various projects since then. The third vessel, the Vox Alexia, is in the final stage of construction in Singapore. All these new vessels have a hopper capacity of around 10,500 cubic metres, are 137.50 metres long and 27.60 metres wide. Van Oord deploys the trailing suction hopper dredgers worldwide on a wide range of projects, including coastal protection, port construction, waterway deepening and land reclamation. In this photo, the vessel was working off the coastline of Westkapelle (NL), spraying sand back to the beach to combat soil erosion. Impressive to see such a large ship at work up close.
