Architectural photograph of the Westbow (1990) of the Van Brienenoord Brug in Rotterdam.
During a bike ride I came across this spot. It is a viewpoint, specially made on the bicycle path of the bridge. You can only get there by walking or cycling.
The Van Brienenoord Brug is a bridge over the New Maas in the Rotterdam district of IJsselmonde and Kralingen-Crooswijk on the east side of Rotterdam, in the Dutch province of South Holland. The bridge consists of two adjacent arched bridges with three bascule bridges in their extension. The east arch of the Van Brienenoord Brug was constructed in 1965 and the west arch in 1990. The road over the bridge is the A16 national highway, and with six lanes in each direction and more than a quarter of a million vehicles daily, one of the widest and busiest highways in the Netherlands. A two-way bicycle path also runs outside the arch on the east side, where this photo was taken. The total length of the Van Brienenoord Brug is 1320 meters and the vertical clearance depends on the tide.
Beautiful play of lines which will be a picture on your wall. The use of lines gives peace in the picture, while you still keep looking at it. It never gets boring!
