The VW bus is an iconic car, often associated with traveling and the camping vanlife lifestyle, the hippie culture and just freedom in general.
It was introduced in the late 60s (1967) and was built in West Germany until the late 70s (1979). This second-generation Type 2 lost its distinctive split front windshield of the Type 1 and was slightly larger than its predecessor. Its common nicknames are Breadloaf and Bay-window, or Loaf and Bay for short.
The Type 2 is now known by many names and nicknames: the Transporter, Kombi, Microbus, Bulli, Bus and Camper. But no matter what you call it, in modern times, it has become a classic symbol of vintage retro lifestyle.
