As if a page is turned so the slats curl in the wind. View through Aura Utrecht's colorful slats reflecting the white city office. The designers Gabriel Lester and Martine Vledder ("design studio Polylester") were commissioned by Public Works Utrecht to place the installation "Aura Utrecht" in the station area. These are plastic lamellae in three large circular shapes, within which one can briefly isolate oneself from all the daily hustle and bustle around it. However, because of the transparency of the lamellae and the open space at the top, one's view of the outside remains possible at all times. Similarly, the view quickly catches sight of the contemporary architecture of the city offices or the construction work of the underground parking garage on the Jaarbeursplein...or the hurried passers-by from outside look at what may or may not be happening inside the slat curtains...
