"As a keen walker and nature lover, I can often be found – camera in hand – in the beautiful river region of the Lek, Merwede, Maas and Hollandsch Diep, whatever the season. Nature along these rivers is being given more and more space to develop spontaneously and wild in the re-engineered floodplains. This is where I take most of my photographs, often of details in natural objects that inspire me, whether abstract or not. I also frequently photograph the bridges with their impressive steel structures, which are so characteristic of the river landscape".....
On his photographic excursions, Eugène Winthagen is often on the lookout for images that express his wonder and appreciation for nature, or that are particularly suited to creative combination into new, sometimes illusionistic photographs. He photographs lines, shapes, colours, black-and-white nuances and textures that stimulate the imagination or evoke a particular feeling, and is a lover of abstract photography.
