Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

About ‘Under the sun of the east’ by Jack Schoneveld

"Under the Sun of the East" presents a dreamlike, almost mystical depiction of an architectural scene reminiscent of a Middle Eastern or Mediterranean city. The composition consists of buildings with arches, windows and staircases leading upwards to a central dome — an element commonly found in Islamic or Moorish architecture.

A rich, thickly applied layer of paint with a great deal of texture has been used. The colours are dominated by shades of blue, turquoise, yellow and ochre, which together create a warm-cool contrast. The yellow and ochre at the top suggest sunlight or heat, whilst the blue and turquoise at the bottom evoke a sense of coolness and shade.

The atmosphere of the painting is dreamy, meditative and somewhat nostalgic. The vagueness of the forms – as if viewed through a veil of time or memory – gives the work a poetic character. It evokes feelings of stillness, warmth, and a certain timelessness, as if the viewer is looking through a memory or a vision.

In short: it is an expressive, atmospheric depiction of a sun-drenched city, in which light, colour and texture combine to radiate an almost spiritual tranquillity.

Nowadays, with the help of a PC, digital camera, and Photoshop, the possibilities for editing images are endless. I am completely self-taught and work primarily with an Intuos Wacom tablet in combination with Photoshop.
My love for people, animals, and nature is reflected in my work. From panoramic views to the smallest details up close, in great detail.…
