This vaulted passageway, with its weathered walls, looks like something out of an ancient dream. It is part of the underground network of the Taman Sari, Yogyakarta's water palace, once a place of refuge and relaxation for the sultan and his court.
The geometric lines of the arches intertwine, guiding the eye towards a distant, almost sacred light. Traces of damp and the rough texture of the walls bear witness to the weight of the centuries, while the silence of the corridor still seems to echo with the footsteps of those who once walked along it.
Somewhere between defensive architecture and royal lifestyle, this place embodies the duality of Taman Sari: both sanctuary and fortress, beauty and mystery. The photographic composition, playing on symmetry and depth, invites contemplation and imagination - towards a past where each stone told a story of water, power and spirituality.
Passionate about photography, I travel the world in search of the most beautiful shots.
