About the artwork

Two Girls with Parasols (1888) by John Singer Sargent.

Sargent had American parents but was born in Italy and lived most of his life in Europe. He became particularly famous for his portraits (Rodin called him "the Van Dyck of our time"), but toward the end of his life he also devoted himself to painting landscapes. He made a total of about 900 oil paintings, 2000 watercolors and numerous sketches and charcoal drawings.

Sargent's style is realistic, but often coarse, in which he still clearly shows the characteristics of the person being portrayed. Portrait of Madame X in the Metropolitan Museum of Art is considered by some to be his masterpiece. In some other paintings he experimented with impressionist techniques, as in Claude Monet Painting at the Edge of a Wood.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
