About "Twin towers, Kuala Lumpur"

About the artwork

The Petrona Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are popularly called the Twin Towers. The reason is not hard to guess. They are identical, mirrored.
The Petronas Twin Towers is a tower complex in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At its inauguration in 1998, it was the tallest building in the world, marking the first time since medieval times that the world's tallest building was not in the Western world.
The Petronas Twin Towers are now no longer the tallest building in the world, but they remain the tallest identical buildings in the world.

The two spires reach a height of 452 meters. The building has 88 floors. The highest floor in the building is 375 meters high and the roof is 378.6 meters high.

The shape of the towers is derived from traditional Islamic forms. For example, the floor plan of the Petronas Twin Towers is based on the Rub El Hizb, but with additional circular sections to increase the total floor area.

The towers are connected by an aerial bridge between the 41st and 42nd floors. Only 1,200 people per day are allowed on the bridge. The bridge is intended to provide an escape route to the other tower in case of fire.
