Tropical Leaf in Golden Contrast

by MARTINA KUSUMA DEWI

"An oversized Monstera leaf fills the frame with sweeping curves and distinctive cut-outs, creating a bold botanical silhouette against a warm cream background. Deep green sections alternate with lighter sage and olive brushwork, while a bright amber-orange sun occupies the upper right and adds a concentrated burst of warmth. Smaller dark and ochre shapes at the edges make the composition feel layered and dynamic.

The close crop gives the leaf a strong, almost sculptural presence. Its central vein and branching structure guide the eye through the composition, while surrounding abstract forms create contrast between organic curves and simple geometry. Thick, directional paint marks are visible throughout, producing a tactile impasto effect that emphasizes the handmade, expressive quality of the artwork.

This piece combines tropical botanical subject matter with an earthy modern palette. It can complement contemporary living spaces, Japandi-inspired rooms, and organic modern interiors where natural greens are paired with warm neutrals. The large-scale leaf and vivid sun make it especially effective as a standalone statement print or as part of a coordinated botanical art grouping."
