A tribute to Serge Poliakoff (1900-1969) he was a russian artist. After the war, he was one of the best-known painters from the abstract art movement in France, the École de Paris. He became a French citizen in 1962 and was also awarded a room on behalf of France at the Venice Biennale in the same year for exhibiting a series of abstract paintings. A characteristic feature of his abstract work is that his paintings are entirely filled with colourful, non-geometric planes. The atmosphere is quite poetic and somewhat organic. There is no optical space or depth in the work; on the contrary, it is flat.
