A tribute to David Hockney (1937) he is an English artist. Hockney's career has been remarkable for its constant change in materials, techniques and styles. For example, he works with the traditional techniques of oil and acrylic paint on canvas and also makes graphic art. He also designs a considerable amount of scenery for theatre and opera. Later, he makes collages with Polaroid photos, works with four-colour prints, makes computer graphics, fax drawings, and his latest work includes video artworks and even iPad paintings. Throughout his career, it is notable that he continues to paint portraits of people, especially those close to him. But he also paints still lifes and scenes that have been stripped of human figures. These situations do, however, refer to human presence. This can be clearly seen in one of his most famous works from 1967 "A Bigger Splash" (this artwork is a variation on it). His 1972 painting Portrait of an Artist (pool with two figures) was sold at auction in 2018 for 79 million euros, at that time a record amount for a work by a living artist. In 2012, he received the Order of Merit from Queen Elizabeth.
