This photo is part of the frozen summer bloomers series.
The spent flowers of white and pink peonies were individually placed in water and frozen deeply for several days. At the beginning of the freezing process, the flowers were moved to get air bubbles and various ice crystals in the ice. While photographing, the thick layer of ice around the flower thaws, constantly creating new effects and therefore different images. When the ice has melted, then it is over and the photo cannot be taken again. It is a one-time very laborious process of transient nature and therefore each photo is unique. It has become abstract nature, still lifes of fading life.
Specialized in landscapes and nature, especially in the Netherlands. The Veluwe forests and the waterfront are common subjects, sometimes with the contrast of nature and human traces.
