In "Towers of wonder", by using various elements of architecture, realistic or otherwise, I have created a structure that evokes wonder and questioning. The merging of various shapes, lines, textures and patterns creates a surreal image in which very recognisable elements are also used.
From a young age, I have been fascinated by the different ways people build and design. It is fantastic to visit a large castle and already wonder on the outside what secrets lie behind the thick walls, small windows and large towers. By following a steep, stone staircase, you discover an old wooden door leading to a hidden room, where the most beautiful ornaments and decorations invite you to investigate further and relive bygone times.
Zentangle is a form of art in which often seemingly invisible patterns and structures are made visible. From small scribbles or doodles, a flowing interplay of lines of both black and white surfaces and natural and geometric patterns and shapes emerge, complementing and enhancing each other.
In making this drawing, I started with a sketch with fineliner on paper, made up of both thick and thin lines. I then converted this sketch into a digital drawing and developed it further. I use a digital drawing pen for this, ensuring pen strokes and small irregularities. This creates a unique work of art with its own character.
