Photograph taken at night of the Fisherman's Bastion in Budapest, Hungary on Castle Hill. Early in the morning or late at night are the only time periods when you might get a photo without tourists. As early mornings are not really my thing, I preferred the night time option. The bastion is a marvelous architectural feast, built in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style on the Castle hill around Matthias Church. It was built between 1895 and 1902, although it looks ancient, and its seven towers represent the Magyar tribes that settled in the Carpathian Basin in 896. The Bastion's name comes from the guild of fishermen that defended this part of the city in the Middle Ages.
Beside the beautiful architecture, the spot is a travel destination also for it's panoramic view of the Danube, Margaret Island, and Pest to the east and the Gellert Hill to the south.
