Tokyo Tower and cityscape in a glass ball by TheXclusive Art

The painting ‘Tokyo Tower and Cityscape in a Glass Ball’ captures an entire district of the Japanese capital within a clear glass ball. At the centre of the composition, the orange-red illuminated Tokyo Tower rises above a sea of office towers, blocks of flats and motorways stretching out in all directions. The scene is viewed from above, as if you were hovering over it in a drone.

The glass alters the view of the city. Along the upper edge, a broad reflection partially obscures the image, whilst the buildings at the edges curve with the dome’s curvature and tilt inwards. As a result, Tokyo resembles a tiny planet of its own. Countless lit windows and street lamps create small orange and white points of light in the predominantly grey scene, and at the bottom, a wide road winds its way through the built-up area like a luminous line. Beneath the sphere, the glass casts a soft shadow onto the dark background.

The cool shades of grey with those warm orange accents look great on a plain wall. In a living room, office or modern hallway, this piece instantly lends the space an urban feel. For anyone who finds Tokyo special, who loves skylines, or who is captivated by images in which an entire city fits into something small, this is a print that never ceases to fascinate. Millions of people, captured within a single sphere.
