Otto Freundlich (Słupsk (Pomerania, then Prussia - Germany), 10 July 1878 - Majdanek (Poland concentration camp), 9 March 1943) was a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor. He was one of the first representatives of abstract art. Freundlich studied art history in Munich and Berlin in 1902. From 1908 to 1914 he stayed in Paris and lived in Montmartre under one roof with young, up-and-coming artists such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and others. His first abstract works were created in 1911.
