The image shows cowboy boots with a background of pink roses. I myself have a pair of cowboy boots with a stylised pattern of white roses, but in this case I made the flowers pink, placed them outside the boot and gave them a suggestion of authenticity. Cowboy boots have something tough. They give you sturdiness and in my case, Nancy Sinatra's song often plays in my head when I put them on: "These boots were made for walking, and that's just what they'll do, one of these day these boots are gonna walk all over you!"I think the work is a combination of something strong and something soft; sturdy boots and lovely roses, only roses also have thorns and can proliferate, so they are also strong in their own way. The work is feminine, but also tough. Graphical techniques and tattoos have always fascinated me, so it is not surprising that the influences of that visual culture seep into my own work. The work was created with fineliners and markers and post-processed in Photoshop. People who love modern culture, tattoos or botanical images will certainly like this work.
My work distinguishes itself by strong colours and clear shapes. I work with ecoline, ink and pencil, but I also like to cut and paste.
I get my inspiration from nature and like to daydream. Animals and people sometimes seem to melt together in these reveries.
