Wilhelm Morgner (Soest, Rhineland, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, 27 January 1891 - Langemark, West Flanders, Belgium, 16 August 1917) was a German painter. He is considered part of the Expressionist movement.
After 1912, religious works occupy a central place in the work of the profoundly religious Morgner. He saw in the New Testament and the Passion of Christ a way to represent his own psychic condition. In addition, he approaches abstraction more and more emphatically, to be seen in the strongly reduced landscapes of his so-called astral and ornamental compositions.
