About ‘The vibrantly coloured Galderse Heide, Breda’ by JPWFoto

Even before the sun rises, the Galderse Heide near Breda is already displaying its most beautiful colours here. Whilst the sky takes on intense hues from the sun behind the horizon, wisps of mist still ripple across the heath. A truly magical spectacle.
The heather is at the peak of its bloom and, bathed in the soft morning light, appears a deep purple – something that is barely visible during the day.
It’s very tempting to capture the full breadth of the landscape here. In this case, however, I opted for a somewhat more intimate shot: a glimpse through the trees that surround the heathland. This gave the purple heather the full attention it deserves, whilst the colourful sky was beautifully framed by the treetops.
In this way, I was once again able to capture a unique moment on this heath, which features in the Breda anthem "De Paarse Heide":
" Amidst the purple heather,
Where the Mark and the Aa converge,
There lies, celebrated through the ages,
Our' own city, our proud Breda.
