About "The sun caresses the Mesa Arch in Canyon Lands."

About the artwork

We strategically set up camp at the HorseChief campground, about a 25-minute drive from the Mesa Arch. I like the idea of photographing the Mesa Arch while the sun shines through it.
It's about a half-hour drive, and then a 20-minute hike. So we hit the road early, and really, we/I don't even think for a second that there might be others with the exact same idea.
It is a huge setback when we drive into the parking lot at the beginning of the trail, and see that the parking lot is really rammed full. Parking on the road is not an option, so we have no choice but to drive on, take pictures somewhere else and return.
A bit further on in the park we enjoy ourselves with another hike, and return a few hours later at the Mesa Arch. This time I am able to park our RV, and we begin our hike.
When we arrive, the sun is too high for a "through the arch sunlight photo," so I go for the alternative, "The sun just above the arch photo." It is still crowded at the arch, but armed with a super wide angle, and enough guts to get a little closer to the edge I manage to get a spot, from which I can take a picture where it still looks like I am alone in the world....
