The landscape of Death Valley (USA) has been changing for millions of years. One finds remnants of long-forgotten seas, of mountain formation due to the collision of tectonic plates, of volcanic activity and also of continuous erosion.
This lone rock is witness to past volcanic activity. It was catapulted into the air along with debris and dust and now rests in a desolate sandy plain. There it will eventually weather to dust.
