Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘The smallest alley in Breda’ by JPWFoto

Behind the Vismarkt in Breda, right in the center, lies this narrow alley. It offers a special view of the tower of the Great Church. This used to be the entrance to the café het Klapcot, where I was a loyal visitor. In the hundreds of times I visited the pub, I never really noticed the special vista. But now, with camera in hand, I visit this smallest alley in Breda with all the pleasure to make a nice picture of it.
This square image offers various options to make a different cut, both portrait and landscape. The high resolution provides ample opportunity for this.
