This photograph captures the hushed atmosphere of a room in Taman Sari, Yogyakarta's famous water palace, once reserved for the royal family. The interior, bathed in soft light filtering through the window, reveals walls with the patina of centuries and carved wooden furniture, a vestige of past splendour. The dampness of time, traces of moss and cracks tell another story: that of the persistence of the place in the face of the years and the elements.
On the wooden bed, a modest offering of flowers reminds us that, despite the apparent ruin, the place remains inhabited by respect and spirituality. The floral motifs painted on the wall, delicate and stylised, express the elegance of traditional Javanese art.
In the silence of the palace, you can imagine the murmurs of yesteryear, the daily life of the sultan and his family, and the gentle coolness that these rooms provided on hot days. It's a fragment of memory frozen in stone, a fragile but vibrant testimony to Javanese refinement and sensitivity.
Passionate about photography, I travel the world in search of the most beautiful shots.
