Driving along the northern coastline of the island, these rock formations at Ribeira da Janela will certainly catch your eye.
Taken from the rocky beach from a low angle, the photo gives a unique perspective of the rugged beauty of these giant Ilheus da Janela. Because the boulders in the foreground are submerged in water during high tide, they were given a beautiful bright green algae coat which makes for a wonderful contrast and also gives this photo a bit more depth.
I returned to this place several times during different weather conditions which produced unique images each time. Here I opted for a slower shutter speed so that you can clearly see the movement of the clouds and the water gets a smooth surface, giving the photo a calm and tranquillity
