The island of Schokland used to be surrounded by water and has been an island in the middle of the Northeast Polder since its reclamation in 1942. Today, the island is surrounded by a sea of coloured tulips.
Every year, the tulips change plots of land and I always had an idea in my head to photograph Schokland with the tulips in the foreground. This year, everything fell nicely into place and that resulted in a beautiful colours this tulip field had with the church of museum Schokland in the background. The evening sun disappeared behind the clouds but just before the sun disappeared behind the horizon, it briefly emerged for that beautiful golden glow in the sky.
This works very well in any interior. In terms of colours, it is a warm, cheerful picture of spring that fits in anywhere in your home or office.
