The allium sativum is next to pepper and salt one of the better known flavors. One cursed, the other can't get enough of it. Especially in the southern countries this herb is used a lot because of its pungent smell and taste. As Lauk it was already mentioned in the Icelandic Edda. In the Middle Ages it was an effective remedy against devils, witches and vampires.
