About the artwork
"The play of lines in a feather" is an abstract macro photograph of a small piece of a brown feather, where I photographed the play of lines in the feather. I chose to choose just the piece of feather with two small deviations from the pattern. This imperfection, in my view, makes the work more exciting.
The depth of field I chose for making this picture is very small. This creates a very simple interplay of lines, with little detail in some places (like in the top right corner and in the bottom left corner) which overflows into places where it becomes detailed (like in the centre of the photo), because this is where the focus is. The moment a part of the feather is not at the same distance as the focus point, it fades, both in front of it and behind it. This gives depth to the work as well as abstraction: The feather becomes a play of lines. If you zoom in on the work, you can see this. A minimalist calming work with asymmetry.
This work could hang beautifully as wall decoration in, for example, the waiting room, bedroom, hallway or of course just above the sofa!
