On the site of the former Stangenroth basalt quarry, which originally went into operation in 1929 and was dismantled in 2013, a beautiful mountain lake, a true biotope, has been created in the deep pit of the quarry. The photo shows how the lake is impressively surrounded by the rock faces of the quarry and what impressive colours the lake reflects.
Unfortunately, the entire site of the former basalt quarry is not very safe, so we strongly advise against visiting. There is a risk of falling!
