Before my trip to the Dolomites in Italy's South Tyrol, I had made a bucket list of places I absolutely wanted to see. The small but beautiful lake Lago di Carezza (Karersee in German) was high on my list. I already knew the pictures, of course, but to see it in those incredible blues and greens in real life is sensational. That combined with how clear the water is and those beautiful rugged Dolomites in the background and in the reflection in the water makes it a beautiful place that is certainly not inferior to Canada and Scandinavia.

Located in the Dolomites in northern Italy, Karersee is one of the country's most enchanting lakes. This mountain lake is known for its crystal-clear waters, which sparkle in countless shades of blue and green depending on the light and time of year. Surrounded by dense pine forests and with the imposing Latemar mountain range in the background, it forms a perfectly picturesque landscape. What makes the Karersee extra special is the reflection of the mountains and trees on the surface of the water, which looks almost magical. Photographers and artists are attracted to the lake's unique beauty because of the dramatic contrasts between nature and colours, as well as the tranquil atmosphere it exudes. Karersee provides an ideal source of inspiration for anyone who wants to capture the pure splendour of the Italian Alps, whether through a lens or on canvas.
