The green road is a footpath between Zevenhuizen (on Texel) and the Mosselweg. The path runs between the typical Texel Tuunwallen. A tuunwall is a partition made of plaggen between two plots of land. A typical tuunwall is about 1 meter high and 1 meter wide and is made of locally cut tufts, which are laid on top of each other. Tiles were used because there was little suitable wood available to make partitions. Special plants are found in and on the garden walls, which is why they are protected. Although it is nowadays cheaper to use poles and barbed wire, new garden walls are being constructed on Texel to keep the original landscape intact.
