The golden rain cassia, or Cassia fistula, transforms the area around Wat Phathat Si Khottabong into a vibrant tableau of yellow. At the foot of the golden stūpa, these luminous bunches dance to the rhythm of the wind, bringing brightness and life to the sacred scene. Their blossoming often coincides with the hot weather and the Lao New Year festivities, symbolising prosperity and renewal. Monks pass by in the shade of the branches, while the faithful stop for a moment, attracted as much by the beauty as by the discreet fragrance. This marriage between tree and temple sublimates the moment and invites contemplation.
