About ‘The early morning walk’ by Ellen Weidenaar

I am always looking for a piece of heaven on earth. A moment that makes my heart leap. For years I have been walking on this path, located in the Westerpark in Zoetermeer. I also call it my backyard. This place gives me comfort and renewed confidence. Nature surprises and amazes me at just the right moments. In this photo, I hoped and waited patiently for the right moment. The sun looks like a star and was created by a particular photographic technique. Through the low-hanging fog, the sun's rays became visible on the field of the sheep pasture. For me, no matter how many times I have walked it, the path symbolises the way to a new magical moment. Sometimes that moment comes and sometimes not but always at the right moment. The trees are deeply rooted in the ground and for me symbolise strength and protection. They are like gentle giants.

This I knew only from words but had never seen in myself before. My love for animals and nature has always been great. I found comfort, love, humour, wonder and connection.
