The calibration mark on the stern in port.
The stern with its curves and the welds of the plates that form the ship. The salt water and the other ships in the harbor make the paint crack. And because of that you get these beautiful effects on the ship's hull.
The large ships and their hulls produce a beautiful effect in the sun. I always have to take a look at the ship, is she smooth in the paint or is she marked by the salt water. Where is the rust and does she look a bit raw. The hull is her story about the world seas and from port to port.
I saw that ship lying there and her hull in the sun showed all the spots and the different shades of black.
The harbor for me is a wonderful place to be the big ships and the big grabs. While photographing this ship I could hear the big grabs in her holds picking up the cargo.
Raw and the port as it is the people who work there. The images I see there I like to photograph because it is art in itself. The harbor is a different world. The landscape of the harbor is always changing. The ships, the people and the landscape continue to fascinate me.
