This arid and spectacular landscape, located around Mount Bromo in East Java, reveals the raw power of Indonesian volcanic nature. The steep slopes, carved out by time and successive eruptions, form a complex network of furrows and gullies. In the morning light, the ochre and grey tones of the rock mingle with the greenish reflections of the rare bushes clinging to the walls. The overall effect is almost lunar, with every feature seemingly frozen in a silent eternity.
From this vantage point, you can see the immensity of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, a sea of sand bordered by volcanic hills. Here, vegetation is timidly coming back to life after the repeated assaults of ash, a reminder of nature's resilience in an extreme environment. The contrast between the barrenness of the soil and the softness of the blue sky adds a poetic dimension to this land of fire and wind.
It's a fascinating place to observe, where you can feel the quiet power of the volcano, the memory of the elements and the fragile beauty of a world forged by the deep forces of the Earth.
