As with many birds of prey and scavengers, this Griffon Vulture has to keep a close eye on everything around it.
Beautiful details in an underappreciated bird.
Great ecological importance to keep the circle of Life right.
The beak, shape of the head and the neck (without feathers) have evolved in such a way that this scavenger even manages to enter and exit a carcass without any problems, looking for food, without the feathers going the wrong way, breaking etc.
And what beautiful details in the head and beak.
Capturing animals like this, the details, for me enough reason to keep practising wildlife and nature photography.
In the Netherlands, too, they occur regularly as wanderers.
Large groups, sometimes up to 65 specimens.
Flying, looking for prey / kill / remains of animals.
