About ‘The Venice That the Crowds Don't See’ by Steve Henderson

Venice, Italy, is an extraordinarily busy place, and while not a lot of residents live there (it's estimated that 50,000 people reside on the historic main island), more than 12 million tourists arrive and walk its streets every year.

That's a lot of people, and if you stay in the main areas (San Marco Piazza and the Rialto Bridge) you may feel that all 12 million are there are once. But if you take a walk, cross this bridge, walk through that narrow street, cross another bridge, and another, explore that long street and get lost in a courtyard, backtrack, and keep on your way, you will leave the crowd behind.

You will discover the quiet neighborhoods, the grocery stores where the residents shop, hidden cafes, walkways and byways where there are simply not a lot of people, and very few of them tourists.

Isn't it always that way? If you're willing to walk a bit further than most people, you'll manage to find the places that most people don't find, and in Venice, that means you'll fine The Venice That the Crowds Don't See.
