About ‘The South American Jacana’ by Ronald (Ronnie) de Klein

The Jacana in Suriname , called Kepanki, is a common colourful and noisy bird especially during flyaways.
A blackish-brown bird, with yellow spots in its wings. These are clearly visible when flying or when it lifts its wings. It has a yellow beak and red wattles on its head. Then it also has long green legs with very long toes. A striking bird. The young have white underneath and a stripe near their eye, but that yellow spot and the long toes are already like the adults. They walk on the water plants, they need those big toes for that and they even just walk on the water too.
You see them in swamps, rice paddies and big borders with lots of plants. On those water plants, they also make a nest with some stems, even close to houses in the city. Not only do they stand out because of their colour, they also make a lot of noise. You sometimes see them fighting with each other under a lot of noise. They lift their wings to make the yellow spot stand out. On the wing, they have a sharp thorn with which they hit each other. They are real ruffs, as they are also called. They don't often fly. When they are chased, you can see their legs hanging under the body and they keep making noise in the air.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
