The Kaagmolen Opmeer.
De Kaagmolen is a polder mill built in 1654 for draining the Kaagpolder. The Mill is located in the outskirts of Spanbroek, in De Kaag (a polder neighborhood that was considered an independent place in the 19th century). However, the postal address is Opmeer because although it is on the edge of Kaagpolder, near Berkmeer and opposite De Lage Hoek, the address is assigned to Nieuweweg.
In 1854 the Kaagmolen was fitted with an auger. In 1879, a steam-powered pumping station was installed next to the mill, which functioned as an auxiliary pumping station; the main drainage was done by wind power. In 1959, the steam engine in the pumping station, which still exists today, was replaced by a diesel engine.
