About "The Pontiac Station Wagon From 1956 Surfer Edition"

About the artwork

The Pontiac Station wagon from 1956 is one of the most popular models of the year. Its standard "Strato-Streak" V-8 engine produces 300 horsepower and boasts a 115-horsepower torque. Its front-wheel-drive platform allows for easy maneuvering and is remarkably comfortable. The rear-wheel-drive model is available in three trim levels. Despite its long wheelbase, this sedan is still very compact compared to the modern Fords.

The first Safari model was introduced in November 1954. It shared its body structure with the Chevrolet Nomad station wagon. This allowed the divisions to share tooling costs and improve production. The front-end bumper was unique to Pontiac, as was the taillight design. Other distinguishing features of the 1955 Pontiac Station wagon included an extra chrome grille and sliding rear-seat windows. It had a raked "B" pillar and a hood with an extra-high roofline.

The Safari was introduced in 1956 and was based on the Pontiac Chieftain. The full-size wagon model shared its body with the Chevrolet Nomad station wagon. This collaboration allowed the divisions to reduce tooling costs while providing a quality vehicle. The interior features included woodgrain paneling and a raked "B" pillar. The Safari was a mid-sized vehicle with a four-door body and high-trim options.
