The Ottofelsen is an impressive granite cliff about 36 metres high with a magnificent panoramic view. This solitary rock tower is located in the area between the Brocken and the towns of Drei Annen Hohne and Wernigerode. The natural monument is one of the most beautiful and popular viewing rocks in the Harz Mountains. A steep staircase leads to the top of the rock. The small effort of climbing the steps is then rewarded by the marvellous panoramic view. Prince Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode gave his name to the picturesque rock, at the foot of which - incidentally - there is a popular stamp site.
The Harz is a low mountain range in Germany and the highest mountain range in northern Germany. It lies at the intersection of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
At 1142 metres above sea level, the Brocken is the highest mountain in the Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt and in the whole of northern Germany. It is located in the Schierke district of the town of Wernigerode in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt.
