The Old Man and the Fish | Surrealist Dream Art as Wall Art by KRAB

There are stories that have no beginning and no end — just a moment. An old man and a small child stand side by side in a golden field, whilst a giant fish floats above them in a glass sphere, filled with flowers and light. Behind them, a miniature cottage that belongs nowhere, and yet stands exactly where it should. This work asks for nothing. It gives everything.

The palette is warm and dreamy: deep sky blue above, the golden yellow of the field glowing like a late summer afternoon, and the soft explosion of colour from the flowers in the glass sphere that gives the whole piece its magical heart. The colours are rich but never restless — like a memory that has grown more beautiful with the years.

This square piece makes a striking stand-alone centrepiece in a living room, study or hallway that wants to tell stories. It suits eclectic, bohemian and warm modern interiors — and is surprisingly at home in a child’s bedroom that goes beyond the ordinary. Anywhere where people love to dream. From a distance, the composition intrigues: the differences in scale, the floating sphere, the golden landscape. Up close, a quieter story unfolds about generations, wonder and the things you only see when you are young enough — or old enough. Wall art for people who know that the most beautiful stories don’t need explaining.

An extraordinary gift for grandparents, for dreamers, for anyone who believes that magic is all around us if you look closely.
