The Daolkesberg is the easternmost part of the Schaelsberg[1] in the extreme southeast of the Central Plateau. At the foot of the slope flows the river Geul and lies the Geul Valley. The Daolkesberg has a height of about 123 meters above NAP and thus rises about 45 meters above the Geul Valley.
The Daolkesberg is clearly visible from the Geul Valley because of the yellow vertical limestone mountain wall. The mountainside consists of about eight cavities used for limestone extraction, one of which is referred to as the abri. The leftmost (western) quarry is referred to as the cave.
To the west of Daolkesberg is the Schaelsberg Hermitage with the Stations of the Cross. On the south side, at the foot of the hill, the Schaelsberg Lime Kiln is located near the Aachen - Maastricht railroad line.
The area is largely owned by the Vereniging Natuurmonumenten.
