The Johannes de Doperkerk, better known as the Grote Kerk, on the Markt in Wageningen in the last rays of sunlight on a winter day. The upper part of the tower is extra exposed by the sun and is therefore the centre of attention. I personally like the photo because it makes it look like the tower 'is on fire' like a fiery glow.
The church was destroyed during World War II in 1940 and was rebuilt in the following years until 1953. On Sundays, church services are convened by the local Protestant Congregation (PKN).
This photo was taken with a drone, which offers a unique perspective compared to photography from the ground. In the background, the rest of the centre of Wageningen is visible, such as the shopping street Hoogstraat (visible on the left), the Liberation Church on Ritzema Bosweg (to the left of the church tower), the large mansions on De Bassecour (to the right of the tower) and, on the horizon, some star flats inhabited mainly by students.
